The Nationwide Test Environment for
Data Management Innovations

The Data Intensive Computing Environment (DICE) is the genesis of a vision by government, industry and academia to create a broader community where open conversations and collaboration initiate powerful innovations around HPC data management. The DICE environment forms a foundation for HPC users to collaborate in moving emerging technologies from the theoretical to the operational environment.

The only test and evaluation environment of its kind, DICE is an independent, representative test bed comprised of geographically distributed HPC centers located throughout the USA. Connected by high-speed, real-world wide-area networks, DICE provides the platform to identify, test and evaluate new and emerging technologies designed to enhance the use and management of HPC data.

The Testbed Concept

DICE provides the platform to identify, test, evaluate and validate new and emerging technologies to enhance the use and management of HPC data. It is not located in a quiet corner of some pristine network, where one type of user has a small set of requirements and a couple of potential problems.

How to Participate

DICE capabilities and services are available to government, commercial and academic organizations. From in-kind contributions and new DICE site sponsorships to project evaluations and research contracts, DICE is the hub for facilitating HPC data management innovations, from discovery to deployment.
