2009 Automation Robotics Summer InstituteThis summer, SME, Advanced Technologies Consultant, the Ohio Department of Education and Avetec offered an Automation/Robotics Summer Institute for students entering grades 9-12 with an interest in automation and robotics. |
Collaboration with GEAR UPAvetec and GEAR UP are currently working together to provide the STARS program, an after-school program for 5th graders at Perrin Woods and Lincoln elementary schools. Through STARS, the students do hands-on math, science, and CSI-type activities that make learning science and math fun, encouraging them to stay in school and further their education. Avetec collaborates with Clark State Community College’s GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) team to help better prepare Springfield area students for college. |
NSF Mentor LinksDan Heighton and Jane Cape from Clark State Community College and Cathy Balas from Avetec are among the 10 NSF grantees for the MentorLinks program. Avetec and Clark State will work together to develop a new curriculum at Clark State for cyber security technician training. |
2008 Wright Scholar OrientationOn Wednesday, April 23, Avetec held an orientation dinner for the 2008 Wright Scholars. Nine Clark County students have been selected to participate in the prestigious Wright Scholar program for 2008 out of 65 total applicants. Each student will work in a paid position this summer at the Air Force Research Laboratory in the Propulsion Directorate at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. |
TechFest 2008On February 16-17, Sinclair Community College hosted the 6th annual Miami Valley TechFest which featured hands-on, interactive exhibits and demonstrations about science, technology, engineering and math. |
College and Career DayOn Tuesday, January 15, Senior College Day was hosted at North High School in Springfield, Ohio.
