Avetec Announces New Acting CEO

09/25/07

Springfield, Ohio (September 25, 2007) – The Avetec Board of Directors appointed Homer Smith as acting Chief Executive Officer of the Springfield-based non-profit research and education organization effective Monday, Sept. 24.  Smith has been serving the company as a consultant since its inception in 2005 and was hired as Chief Operating Officer in July.

“Homer is a superb leader, and he will make a great acting CEO,” said John Landess, Chairman of the Board. “I’m confident Homer’s leadership abilities will make for a smooth transition while the board conducts a search for a new CEO.”

Smith is a Brigadier General with more than 30 years of hands-on management experience in the Air National Guard, where he has served as Commander of the Headquarters and Chief of Staff. He holds degrees in both engineering and industrial design, and has served as the Principal for Special Programs at The Greentree Group in Beavercreek, Ohio since 2004.

Smith will replace founding President and CEO Robert Evans Miller, who is no longer with the company and is pursuing other interests.

Avetec is a not-for-profit public benefit research organization that aims to facilitate a dramatic reduction in the cost and time it takes to design, develop and test new turbine engines for commercial and military applications.
