SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (October 17, 2007) – Local non-profit research organization Avetec has selected Sidney-based Ferguson Construction Co. to build its state-of-the-art headquarters building at the Nextedge Applied Research and Development Park in Springfield. The company started construction on the second building at the park today.

“We selected Ferguson through a competitive bidding process, and we are pleased with how responsive their proposal was to our request,” said Avetec Acting CEO Homer Smith. “Our new headquarters will make Avetec a permanent fixture in this community and the national aerospace industry while advancing our mission to facilitate collaboration to help keep American aerospace competitive.”

The building will be 37,000 square feet and will include Avetec’s headquarters, a world-class computer modeling and simulation environment and conference and meeting space.

The building construction is funded by a $9.9 million grant from the United States Department of Energy. The building was designed by Champlin/Haupt Architects, Inc. of Cincinnati.

Ferguson Construction Co. has been in business since 1920 and is a full-service general contractor with offices in Sidney, Dayton and Columbus.
