DICE Program the 'Biggest Little Exhibit' at SC07

11/28/07

Avetec's Data Intensive Computing Environment (DICE) had a strong presence in the "Biggest Little City" (Reno, NV) during the supercomputing industry's most notable event - SC07 - November 12-15.

"Our major goal was to build relationships that will lead to collaboration between industry, government and academia and ultimately improve American competitiveness in data management," said Avetec Chief Information Officer Al Stutz. "This is the event in high performance computing, and we were able to make valuable contact with many existing and potential partners and collaborators."

The Supercomputing conference in its twenty year (delete/show) is held annually and was attended by a record number of over 7,000 attendees and 319 exhibitors in all facets of the high performance computing industry. It is an educational event with hundreds of technical paper presentations, as well as a top-notch trade show.

The DICE Program's goal is to become the recognized leader in data management through unbiased evaluations and objective reporting of new or emerging technology solutions. The DICE Program is speeding "time to solution" for complex interdisciplinary and engineering problems and strengthening American competitiveness by improving the methods, efficiency and validity of data management processes in high performance computing.

"The focus of the SC07 exhibit was to explain how data management is creating a performance bottleneck in high performance computing and how Avetec's Data Intensive Computing Environment (DICE) is working to change the shape of data management today and for the long-term," said DICE Program Executive Director Roger Panton. "Over the long-term, the DICE Program will improve the baseline architecture to enable technology advancements in HPC data management, ultimately improving time to solution and strengthening American competitiveness."

Visitors to the DICE Program exhibit received information about the program and its upcoming May 6-8 DICE Alliance 08 Conference - the only industry conference dedicated to improving data management in high performance computing. For more information, go to www.diceprogram.org.
