Applications are being accepted for the Wright Scholar Research Assistant Program until the January 9 deadline.

Every year, Avetec and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) collaborate to offer the summer internship program to high school juniors and seniors and recent high school graduates who posses a keen interest in science and engineering.

Through the program, the selected students have the opportunity to grow in a variety of ways. “Working in the Air Force Research Laboratory, I’ve acquired hands-on knowledge about technology and engineering,” said participant, Lee Ann Perkins. “Attending classes at the University of Dayton and Wright State University [through the Wright Scholar program] has given me more awareness about college and engineering.”

Ali Hashemi, a returning Wright Scholar participant, said that his previous experience in the program has helped him in the classes that he has taken as a student at the University of Dayton. The reverse seems to be true as well, as he added, “I am able to learn the theory in school and then directly apply what I learned as an Avetec intern. I feel I am growing into a well rounded engineer.”

Applications will be accepted until the January 9 deadline. Applications and more information about this program are available by clicking here.

All applications will be reviewed simultaneously by a panel of scientists. Also, as a courtesy, an Avetec education staff member will review your entire application and essay prior to submission.
